London Beekeepers' Association

The London Beekeepers' Association (LBKA) is a volunteer-run members' organisation and Registered Charity that represents the interests of beekeepers and urban beekeeping in the central London area (see neighbouring associations). We provide education and advice, promoting responsible bee keeping and raising awareness of the issues affecting bees.

If you live in London and already keep bees, intend to do so or are simply interested in this fascinating hobby, LBKA is the association for you. Even if you don't keep bees, joining us will help support our cause, our campaigns and education programmes.

Booking is open for our Introduction to Beekeeping course.

This event is organised by LBKA.Sunday 13th April 2025: Monthly meeting: Queen Rearing Workshop.
11:00-13:00 at The Foundry,17 Oval Way SE11 5RR
Our next workshop will be on Sunday 13th April. It will be a Queen Rearing Workshop, led by Sharon Bassey. This will be the start of a pilot project to encourage everyone to raise their own queens and overwinter bees and nucs of their own. We will be showing you how to assess your colonies, raise drones, and how to prepare an Apidea. We will show a mixture of queen rearing methods which is attainable by everyone and some more complex methods. We hope to have some drone comb available (to save on postage) and some simple tools that will help you on your journey. For those who wish to participate in this project, we will set up a WhatsApp group to support your endeavours so we can learn from each other’s successes and failures. The BBKA will follow up with an article in the autumn in the hope of encouraging other associations to follow suit and use our project as a template.
